We believe that the subject of history has an important place in our curriculum and that through developing our children's knowledge and understanding of past events, they will be better equipped to face their futures.

History at Thorndon Primary School is a fun, dynamic and hands-on subject. Throughout their life at the school, the children are able to immerse themselves into different historical time periods exploring how our lives today have been shaped by those who have come before us.

The children develop a secure understanding of chronology, where different time periods studied fit in to and lead on from one another, both in terms of British history and world history. We explore our local history, so children understand the rich history around them, within the local community and the region of East Anglia. We enrich our history teaching and curriculum by going on historical visits and having visitors in to bring the past to life.
