Geography
We are GEOGRAPHERS!
Geography is more than just looking at maps! By gaining knowledge about the world, it helps children to understand the interaction between physical and human processes and how this effects the environment and the world they live in.
In geography, children develop their understanding of maps, and a range of investigative and problem solving skills both inside and outside the classroom. They learn to understand the world in which they live and the roles they can play now and in the future. They learn about place, scale and sustainability and how natural processes have shaped human societies, and how humans in turn, have changed the planet.
Through geography, children encounter different societies and cultures and learn how others live and are interconnected, locally, nationally and globally, thus giving them a strong sense of global citizenship.
By studying geography it will teach children to think about their own place in the world, their values, their rights and responsibilities to other people and the environment.
